It has come to many people’s attention that our local Social Studies teacher Mr.Divis is leaving BFUHS this year. I did a small interview with Mr. Divis to get his thoughts on a few questions.

Did you like your time at BFUHS?

“Yes very, very much. Students have a very unique bond with teachers here, partly because it is a small school. During their time in school is one thing, but even after, I still communicate with former students who I had in class years ago. And the staff are not just a group of people that I work with. They make going to work both unique and fun. They love teaching and care for their students.”

How did you like the community?

“A lot of people give support to BFUHS; I see this every time I’m out in the community, and they really love the school. Seniors will see this during class night; this is not the most wealthy community, but they are incredibly generous and supportive of students. They all want these students to be successful.”

Why are you moving away to somewheres else?

“We are moving to the state of Washington for my 1 year old, so he can be close to his grandparents.”

Are you excited?

“I am very excited for a new opportunity, but I will be very sad to leave”

What things did you do before your time is BFUHS?

“I taught for I year in Ohio. In the past what I always loved doing was traveling. I have taught in Germany as well as other parts of the world. I was once a DJ, and always a hardcore fan of Cleveland sports.”

Craig “LeBron” Divis: 2010 Vermont Teacher of the Year

What is your experience in teaching?

“15 years of teaching, and 14 are from BFUHS.”

Is there anything you wish to say to those who may see this?

“Thank you to all of the amazing students and teachers at BFUHS. I will always consider myself a Terrier.”

Mr. Divis will be missed, and he has made an amazing mark on BF students and staff alike.  Farewell!

Editor’s note: Mr. Divis was selected as the Vermont Teacher of the Year in 2010. Read about that here.
