On Thursday, October 26, the BFUHS pirates attended the first math meet of the year at Fall Mountain High School. The Senior Math Team placed third out of the attending teams, and coach Susan Swan was very happy with this outcome. “It was a tough meet,” said Swan, “the questions were difficult and not many perfect papers were turned in. Therefore, to have placed third is an outstanding achievement, especially given the fact that not all members of the original team – who had been practicing hard since September – were able to attend the competition, and we had to recruit a member 24 hours before the competition!” Congratulations to Ethan Lauricella (Sr), Hannah Harlow (Sr), Lia Clark (Jr), Skylar Swan (Jr), Ian Wallace (Jr), and Bradie Harris (Jr) for pulling together as a team and scoring third place in the Twin State Valley!
The Intermediate math team, lead by coach Sean Murphy, was unable to recruit a team to bring to the opening meet, however, Olivia Lauricella and Brennen Bickford attended the event as individuals. The two Sophomores worked hard and scored well for themselves, but they both hope to have a team for the next meet.
If you are interesting in joining math team, please speak to Sean Murphy or Susan Swan in the math department!
