The Bellows Falls Union High School Music Department presented their February concert examining the trivial question: what is music? The concert was held at 7:00 P.M on February 15th, in the BFUHS Auditorium.

A large audience attended the concert to explore the spectrum of music from a minimalistic view to a fast paced march. The band performed “In C” by Terry Riley, the first movement “Cakewalk” from the “Suit of Old American Dances”, and other selections with a more romantic appeal. Later, the Jazz ensemble, also conducted under BFUHS Instrumental Music Department head Nick Pelton, performed a short but exciting selection including “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller and “Alianza” by Eric Morales.

The concert theme this February was Valentine’s Day and explored the question BFUHS musicians were asked at the beginning of their second semester: what is music? After the audience was brought on an auditory tour of the world of music, the final answer to the question was left up to every person in the room, and perhaps the answer was different for all.
