The BFUHS spring sports season had a very slow start this year due to the rude decision of Mother Nature to extend winter. Although, the teams adjusted, and are on their way to their fullest potential, which they will showcase during playoffs and the championship meet.

So far, the girls and boys tennis teams have improved throughout the season, being challenged by facing some tough competition. The girls competing in Division II in the VPA, found themselves fourth in the rankings, while the boys, competing in Division I, are traveling with the middle of the pack.

The softball and baseball teams experienced the wrath of the extended winter as they were forced to practice inside until just before their first competition. The girls softball team is also adjusting to new head coach, Kim Wells, who expects hard work and dedication to the game as they battle through the rest of their season. Baseball’s returning coach, Bob Lockerby, challenges his team as they power through the season. As both seasons are taking off and they’re facing tough competition, the teams are finding the right combinations for a successful game.

BFUHS track and field is out for blood this season, seeking championships on both the girls and boys side. Coach Eno, Coach Clark, and Coach Bennett set high expectations for their athletes this season because they know the abilities their team has. Furthermore, their inspirational speeches at practice, the endless training and workouts, and the desire from every young athlete on the team, transfers from each individual on to the playing field. The track season has had a slow start as well, for the track was covered in snow, preventing many teams in Vermont to compete. Although, as the team got outside, they of course rose to the occasion and are on track for the Division III state meet on June 2nd.

Good luck to all sports teams as they finish up the rest of their seasons!
