The BFUHS girls and boys basketball teams ended their 2017-2018 basketball season on a high note.
After the long winter season, each team’s hard work and dedication paid off. The boys and girls ended with each team winning their MVL league, and Coach Todd Wells and Coach Ryan Stoodley named MVL coaches of the year.
The girls team started out the new program fresh and successful. Coach Wells lead the girls to a winning record of 16-4. In addition to a winning record and MVL, the girls were able to host their first playoff game which hasn’t been done in years. Unfortunately, they found themselves at the wrong end of stick, coming up short 54-51. The trio of captains hopes to come back just as strong and even better next year, and cannot wait for what next season has at hand.
The boys finished with a strong record of 8-12, finishing in the middle of the pack in Division 2. Saying goodbye to only one senior, the team looks strong for next year, with a large pack of sophomores, juniors, and freshmen at hand. Along with MVL award, the boys had multiple individuals make first team and honorable mention. Shane Clark and Ryan Kelly both found themselves on the top of the list, making the first team, and Joe Terry followed close behind, finding himself a spot on the honorable mention team.
Congratulations to both boys and girls basketball!
