On May 30th at 5:00 in the Legion located in the square of Bellows Falls, local area Bellows Falls and Fall Mountain High School students were honored as Elks Students of the Month over the 2017-18 school year. Put on by members of both the Elks Club and Bellows Falls American Legion, a dinner was prepared cooked, and served to the students and their families. Tables were filled with smiling faces of both young and old, and at the table of honor sat both the principles of both schools, as well as the Exalted Ruler of the Elks club in BF, Smokey Aumand, and guest speaker Dr. Vern Temple.

Temple spoke on life after college, what an honor it is to represent our community, and gave advice to the students who at the end of the night received a plaque embellished with their name, school, and the crest of the Elks Club. Posing for pictures, each student stood with their principle and the Exalted Ruler as they shook hands to receive the honor.

The dinner was cooked and served by members of both the Elks and Legion, and was a favorite of both local clubs: Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and beans as well as a strawberry poke cake for dessert. Guests left after receiving their awards and were greeted by a warm Bellows Falls evening. The night reminded students of their success within the community and how they had been chosen by the people who witness their outstanding achievements and participation within their community. Congratulations to each student!
